Contest runs November 27, 2017 – January 4, 2018

Military children in grades 1st through 6th are invited to enter the “My Military Family” or “My Day at the ASYMCA” Art Contest. Also, military children 1st through 12th grade may enter the “My greatest challenge as a military child has been..” or “How the Armed Services YMCA helped me” Essay Contest.

 

Local Contest Details

1. Official entry forms can be picked up at either of the following locations: Maxwell or Gunter Youth Centers, A&FRC Building 677, or Gunter School Age Program.
2. Completed official entry forms, along with Art work/Essays, must be returned to either of the following locations: Maxwell or Gunter Youth Centers, A&FRC Building 677, or Gunter School Age Program no later than January 4, 2018.
3. The Awards Ceremony for contest winners will be on January 30, 2018 at the Maxwell
Youth Center from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Local Winners from Maxwell AFB will be submitted to the National (Armed Services YMCA) 2018 Art & Essay Contest

 

Guidlines

Artwork: Students in grades 1st through 6th may submit artwork of either theme “My Military Family” or “How the ASYMCA has helped me” at one of the above locations by January 4, 2018.
All entries must be original, no larger than 8” x 6” and in a vertical format. The top six winners (one from each category) will be highlighted on the Armed Services YMCA annual Military Family Month Poster.

Essays: Students in grades 1st through 12th may submit original work entitled “My greatest challenge as a military child has been..” or “How the Armed Services YMCA helped me” at one of the above locations by January 4, 2018.
Grades 1 – 8 should submit entries of at least 100 words but no more than 300 words.
Grades 9 – 12 should submit essays of at least 300 words but no more than 500 words.
Winners: All artwork and essays become property of the Armed Services YMCA and will not be returned.
