Develops teens leadership skills through experiences in and out of the club. This leadership development program includes hands-on activities, exploring topics such as identity, passion, personal branding, voice, teamwork, goal setting, as well as activities to prepare them for the Youth of the Year selection process. The Youth of the Year will then be able to compete against other military bases at Regionals for a chance at additional scholarships.
Our sponsors help other youth by providing them with information they will like to know about Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex and the surrounding community. It is a fun, exciting and rewarding program that helps youth transition from here to there! Being a youth sponsor will provide the youth with a less stressful and challenging move. The most important part a Youth Sponsor is to be a friend and to make them feel welcome at their new community.
This program matches youth ages 9-18 coming to Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex with volunteer sponsors their own age. This will enable them to become familiar with the base and the surrounding area. We also work with children departing Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex for other bases. If you are leaving Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex, we make every effort to contact your receiving base and get you a sponsor there. Below is information on becoming a sponsor and requesting sponsorship for Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex.
